4D Tour 2 Zhuhai & Macau

I have visited Zhuhai & Macau on 27-30 Oct 2008 with hubby's office colleagues (37 of them) on a budget airlines-Tiger Airways. The weather is extremely warm and hot in both destinations. The popular sightseeing places I have been -->

ZHUHAI
Statue of Fisher Girl - 珠海漁女

The Statue of fisher girl has become the landmark in the city of Zhuhai, located at the scenic Xianglu Bay. She holds a pearl high in the air with both hands in an elegant pose, admiring its bright luster that also symbolizes the brightness of Zhuhai.

The statue is composed of granite and stands 8.7 meters high weighing 10 tons. The legend is that a beautiful fairy maiden fell in love with a young fisherman. He believed some fabricated rumors and asked the girl for the bracelet she wore as proof of her love!

New Yuanminyuan Palace 圆明新园

Located in Lanpu, Jiuzhou Ave, the New Yuanming Palace features a partial reconstruction of the Old Summer Palace in Beijing. It is one of the "Top Ten Tourist Attractions of Zhuhai".

At the Palace, we took cable car to the hill top but chose the Wiegand Car back down to the main entrance where the bus has waited for us. First picture on the left - why thousands and thousands of locks are tied to the rock?? Because the locals believed that this rock brings good fortune to the villagers and no matter where they move it to, it will still return to its original place, mysteriously!!

In Zhuhai, we stayed @ Star City Hotel.

Sun Yat-Tsen Memorial Museum & Park 孙中山记念馆和公園

Day 2 morning, we visited Mr Sun's Memorial Museum & Park. I noticed, in China, "space" does make a diffrence - 地大大 ->

Hakka Village 客家村

Next on the list are horses and cow rides in Hakka Village and tried out their famous grilled bird (picture below) and fishballs....mind to try??

We also visited "honey factory" and "Zhuhai Hospital" too...

Night Market & Redlight Area

Billy Wong (our tour guide), brought us to shop at Zhuhai's famous (1) shopping centre and (2) night market - selling genuine fake electronic goods, accessories, handbags, shoes, clothes, gifts and etc. The bar lounges at the night market are for drinks and 'washing eyes'. It is also a REDLIGHT area for prostitudes - the cost is about RMB200 per night!

When we went back to hotel and freshen up, if we do NOT want to rest, we can either join Billy to go (1) massage (it's about RMB120 for body massage for 1 hour); or (2) shopping centre for shopping - own arrangement; or (3) eat seafood - own arrangement. I did all of them ka ka ka.....!

MACAU
Day 3 and 4 were spent in Macau....

Visit to Ah Ma Temple 媽祖閣

Visit to Macau Tower 澳门塔

We are able to see the view of whole Macau (at the observation deck) and also watching 3 gentlemen doing bungy jumping, so terrifying!! Btw, it is NOT FREE, the ticket costs RMB2000 plus per jump hor..... :D

Babylon Casino 巴比伦赌场 - for buffet lunch and then souvenir shopping like buying biscuits, fried meat 'bak gua', etc.

Ruin of St. Paul 大三巴牌坊

From the Ruin of St. Paul, we are able to see Lisboa Casino which has not been lighted up. We found the famous biscuits and other shops nearby too - it was so crowded 人山人海....

In Macau, we stayed @ Royal Hotel which is nearby Lisboa Casino. Macau has got 33 casino all together. With the leftover of 1 day we have got, it is impossible to visit them all....

Venetian Casino 维尼斯亚赌场

We made our own trip to this casino at night, no tour guide provided. We took hotel shuttle to 澳门码头 and then transferred to Venetian Casino by their coach. It was indeed an eye-opener tour for us. $50b were invested in building this casino which also have the hotel/resort, orchestra threatre, food court, high end shop outlets, restaurants and 2 rivers cut across the mall. The architectures of Venetian building is very portugese and potrayed the whole scene of Venice - am I really there? I admired the artwork of the ceilings as well, SPECTACULAR!!

Night Views of Macau - beautiful and marvellous 多姿多彩!!

Day 4 morning, we had breakfast first, then visited Sands Casino 金沙赌场 - our last stop before we return to hotel lobby to assemble and being transferred to Airport for 4pm flight back to Singapore. What we brought with us are the memories we had in this 2 destinations. Bye-bye Zhuhai, bye-bye Macau!!
